World no.2 Novak Djokovic put together some fantastic tennis to beat Juan Monaco in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1, at the AAMI Kooyong Classic, a traditional Australian Open warm-up event.
Nole took the opening set 7-5, putting Monaco under pressure with heavy serving and good hitting.
The second set was a one way road as the Serbian star dictated play with great serves and thunderous ground strokes.
Djokovic is going to the Australian Open as a favourite, looking to win his fifth title in Melbourne.
“It’s great to be back. I love Australia. I love coming back here. I miss it,” Novak said.
