Novak cruises into quarter-finals of Wimbledon, faces Tomic on Wednesday!

Second seed Novak Djokovic powered into the Wimbledon quarter-finals with a 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 win over no.19 seed Michael Llodra on Monday.

The Serb was impressive during his three-set demolition of the Frenchman in the match that lasted 1 hour and 41 minutes.

Nole looked in good form, serving well, with great returns, making only 6 unforced errors and not giving a single chance for break to his opponent.

This was Djokovic’s 100th victory at Grand Slams and he is now two wins away from the world no.1 ranking.

The 24-year-old Belgrade native started fantastic winning 12 of 13 points at the beginning of the match for 3-0 lead. He took the set 6-3 in 28 minutes.

The result of the second and the third set was the same, convincing win for Novak ahead of the upcoming challenges.

“It felt great, especially after the long match that I had against Baghdatis,” said Novak. “To come out and play as well as I did today is definitely an encouraging fact at the beginning of the second week.”

“I increased my level of performance from two days ago – I served well and returned better. I’m very happy and now looking forward to the next challenge.”

Match statistics: aces (9-8), double faults (1-7), winners (32-27), unforced errors (6-21).

Nole will next face young Australian star, world no.158 Bernard Tomic, who defeated Davydenko, Andreev, Soderling and Malisse en route to the last 8.

Djokovic and Tomic have been practising together lately, the two-time Grand Slam champion praised the biggest surprise of this year’s Wimbledon.

“I have only nice words about him. It will be a great match for both of us. He’s a youngster coming up with incredible talent, he’s going to be a top player one day. He’s been beating good players comfortably in this tournament and it will be tough.”

Here’s what Tomic said about Nole: “What a match it’s going to be. To play against a guy like him that’s no.2 in the world, it doesn’t get really better than that. He’s obviously won Grand Slams before. My relationship’s really good with him. I’ve hit with him a lot of times. He’s a cool guy.”
