Novak Djokovic played at Roland Garros for the second time. He reached quarter-finals of the Grand Slam tournament in Paris, where he had to retire to Rafael Nadal due to injury.

The last time Novak Djokovic lost a first-round match in a major was at the 2006 Australian Open, losing to Paul Goldstein (USA). Novak was only 19 years old.
