Novak Djokovic kicked off this year’s US Open by playing in the mixed doubles competition, partnering with Olga Danilovic.
The Serbian duo lost in the first round to the Russian pair Daniil Medvedev and Mirra Andreeva, 2-4, 3-5. The match lasted 43 minutes.
It was a good warm-up and preparation for Novak’s main event, the singles tournament, at New York’s Flushing Meadows.
Novak has been victorious at the US Open four times (2011, 2015, 2018, and 2023) with 10 appearances in the final.
The last Grand Slam event of the season starts on Sunday, August 24.
The singles main draw ceremony will take place on Thursday, August 21.
