World no.1 tennis player is one of 12 men nominated for the United States Sports Academy’s 2014 Male Athlete of the Year.
Novak, who finishes on top of the rankings for the third time in four seasons, was named the Academy’s March Athlete of the Month earlier this year, after winning the Indian Wells-Miami title double.
Stars like Rafael Nadal, Rory McIlRoy, Lionel Messi, Peyton Manning, Dennis Kimetto and Manny Pacquiao are among nominees.
The 30th annual award is done in conjunction with NBC Sports. Worldwide online voting began on December 1. The winner will be announced on December 23.
Nole was the 2011 Male Athlete of the Year. Spaniard Rafael Nadal won the award last year.
The Athlete of the Year ballot is the culmination of the Academy’s yearlong Athlete of the Month program, which recognizes the accomplishments of men and women in sports around the globe.
