11. 08. 2009. · On Sunday evening, the players taking part in the Rogers Cup filled the ballroom of the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel for a special evening.
Andy Murray, Fernando Verdasco, Gilles Simon and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga crowded the red carpet, much to the delight of the patrons on hand. But it was the arrival of Rafael Nadal that really made a splash. The four-time French Open champion and defending Rogers Cup champion was given a real hero’s welcome.
A fashion show took place, with the players wearing designs by Yves Jean Lacasse of Créations Envers. Jurgen Melzer, Tommy Robredo, Mark Knowles and Simon Aspelin were perfect in their roles as models.
But it was the presence of Novak Djokovic that was the high point of the evening. He made his appearance to the crowd dressed in nothing but underwear!
