World no.1 and 2014 Wimbledon titlist Novak Djokovic faced Wimbledon junior champion Noah Rubin on Thursday night in a charity exhibition at Sportime Stadium on Randalls Island at the John McEnroe Tennis Project Benefit.
Nole won 8-5 in a single pro set, and the match provided valuable experience for the 18-year-old Rubin ahead of next week’s US Open, his first career Grand Slam event.
In a 1,500 seat stadium, Novak was joined on court by Johnny Mac, NY Ranger superstar Henrik Lundqvist, actor Edward Norton and other special guests for some fun doubles action.
This benefit night also featured a lively auction with all net proceeds to support the efforts of Johnny Mac Tennis Project.
The JMTP provides tennis scholarships and financial assistance to New York City Metropolitan area children and promotes the lifelong sport of tennis for players of all levels.
