World number 1 Novak Djokovic and US gymnast star Simone Biles have been named AIPS Athletes of the Year for the 2023 edition.
This result is from a poll by the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), where a panel of 405 journalists from 107 countries voted for the Champions of 2023.
By establishing himself as one of the most prominent champions of all time in tennis and sports overall, the Serbian star accumulated a total of 616 votes, 281 more than Swedish Pole Vaulter Armand Duplantis. Finishing in third place, with 277 votes, was Argentinian football player Lionel Messi.
Novak was also awarded the European Sportsperson of the Year award, presented by the Polish Press Agency, voted for by 27 different international news agencies. The Serbian ace won it for the fifth time in his career.
Djokovic was recently crowned the 2023 Men’s Champion of Champions by French renowned daily sports newspaper L’Equipe.
Two weeks ago, Nole was named ITF World Champion for the eighth time.
