Besides his tennis skill, Novak Djokovic is known worldwide as a big football fan and collector of jerseys.

A dream came true for world no.3 on Wednesday- to be part of the football team of Serbia at the official match.

It would be too much for Novak to wear football shoes and play alongside Zigic, Vidic, Krasic and others. He was sitting on the bench for the reserves during the second half of the friendly international against South Korea (1-0).

”It feels fantastic. Thanks to our team and manager for allowing me to sit on the ‘eagles’’ bench. Although it was a friendly match, I am aware that seriousness and professionalism are always a priority,” said Novak to SOS channel reporter from London.

Novak is in the capital of Great Britain on the occasion of the ATP Finals, which is scheduled for next week. He will be there again in June next year for Wimbledon.

The winner of the Paris Masters acknowledged that the most important tennis tournament could spoil his plans, related to going to FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The first phase of World Cup matches will be played between Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

”World Cup takes place in a very bad time, given the tennis calendar, but I will give my best to join our national team and give them support.”

When asked who his favorite player in the national team was, after a short reflection Novak singled out Nemanja Vidic.
