After winning the first two Masters 1000 events in 2014, Novak comes back to Europe full of confidence ahead of the clay season.
The world no.2 will first compete at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters (April 13-20). Last year, Novak won his first trophy in Monte Carlo, ending Rafael Nadal`s eight-year reign with a 6-2, 7-6 (1) victory in the final. He will defend title and 1,000 points.
The Mutua Madrid Open will be played from May 4-11. Djokovic has only 10 points to defend. He lost to Grigor Dimitrov in his opening match last year 6-7 (6), 7-6 (8), 3-6.
Novak`s last event ahead of the second Grand Slam tournament of the season will be the Rome Masters (May 11-18). The 26-year-old Belgrade native lost to Tomas Berdych (6-2, 5-7, 4-6) in quarter-finals of the Internazionali BNL d`Italia, so he will defend 180 points.
The only Major event that Novak still hasn`t won, the Roland Garros, will take place in Paris from May 25-June 8. Last year, Nole fell after great fight to eventual champion Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals (720 pts). The match lasted four hours and 37 minutes.
Novak defends 1,920 points, while the reigning no.1 Nadal has 5,100 points to defend during the clay season (final in Monte Carlo and titles in Barcelona, Madrid, Rome and Paris).
