2015 China Open draw has been made on Saturday. The tournament begins on Monday, October 5, and features five players from the ATP’s top 10. Five-time champion Novak Djokovic is seeded no.1.
The 28-year-old Belgrade native will open his title defence at the ATP World Tour 500 event against Italian qualifier, world no.62 Simone Bolelli (3-0 H2H).
Novak’s possible rivals in the later stages of the tournament are:
Second round: Ze Zhang (CHN, WC)
Quarter-finals: John Isner (USA, 6)
Semi-finals: David Ferrer (ESP, 4), Milos Raonic (CAN, 5)
Finals: Tomas Berdych (CZE, 2), Rafael Nadal (ESP, 3), Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA, 8)
Novak has won the Beijing tournament on all five occasions he has entered, beating Marin Cilic in 2009, David Ferrer in 2010, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in 2012, Rafael Nadal in 2013 and Tomas Berdych in 2014 final – 6-0, 6-2.
Djokovic will start his 167th week at no.1 in the ATP Rankings on Monday. He is the sixth player in ATP World Tour history to reach the milestone, joining John McEnroe (170), Jimmy Connors (268), Ivan Lendl (270), Pete Sampras (286) and Roger Federer (302).
The Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open titlist will pair up with his brother Djordje in doubles. They face Mao-Xin Gong (CHN) and Michael Venus (NZL) in R1.
