World no.1 and four-time Australian Open champion has arrived in Charleroi, Belgium, where he will lead the Serbian team in attempt to win the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas first round tie (1-3 February).
“I’ve just arrived and I’m still getting used to the time difference, and also to different weather conditions,” Novak said. ”I’m glad I’m here with the team, I love the atmosphere when we are together. I am sorry Janko is not with us this time, I wish him a speedy recovery. Captain will decide the best tactics and who will play and when, I will give my best and I believe in our victory.”
Upon his arrival at Kids’ Day, Novak was welcomed by around 300 children who were chanting his name for 15 minutes.
He took photos with many of them, signed autographs and did the first practice on clay at the Spiroudome venue (6,300 seats).
