Nole given top seed in Melbourne

Defending champion Novak Djokovic is the top seed for the Australian Open, which gets underway in Melbourne on January 16.

The world no.1 tops the men’s side of the draw from Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, with Britain’s Andy Murray the fourth seed.

Nole defeated Andy Murray in last year’s final at the start of a remarkable year for the 24-year-old Serb as he went on to win Wimbledon and US Open, taking the world number one spot away from Nadal.

The draw for the first Grand Slam tournament of the season will be held on Friday, January 13.
