Novak Djokovic booked his place in the quarterfinals at the Rogers Cup in Montreal (hard, $ 3,000,000). He beat world number 65 Russian Mikhail Youzhny in straight sets 6-3 6-4.
The first set didn´t start well for the world number four. He was broken in the opening game. He raised the level of his game then, and made two breaks for a 4-1 lead. The 22-year old took the set 6-3 in 33 minutes.
Novak continued in the same rhythm in the second set. He broke his opponent´s service once and won the set 6-4.
The match lasted 82 minutes. Djokovic hit 12 winners to Youzhny´s 9, and made 23 unforced errors to the Russsia´s 29.
Novak will face American Andy Roddick (4) in the quarterfinals on Friday. Roddick defeated Spaniard Fernando Verdasco (10) 7:6, 4:6, 7:6.
