Novak returned to The Boodles tournament, the traditional Wimbledon warm-up event at Stoke Park in Buckinghamshire, to finalise preparations for the defence of his Championships title.
The world no.1 played at The Boodles last year and just over two weeks later he lifted his first Wimbledon trophy.
Djokovic clinched his first win on grass this year beating British no.1 Andy Murray 6-4, 6-4 on Thursday.
Novak made a confident start, running to the net and unsettling Murray enough that he lost the first game without scoring a single point. He consolidated the break and kept the advantage till the end of the first set to win it 6-4.
Both players were enjoying entertaining the crowd, knocking a ball into the stands, hitting a ball between legsā¦ The 25-year-old Serbian star made a break in the fifth game of the second set and held for 4-2. Andy fought back and leveled to 4-all, but the Belgrade native won two games in a row and sealed the set and match 6-4.
“The purpose of these match is to have fun and not to feel too much pressure and to enjoy good practice before Wimbledon starts,” Novak said.
The most prestigious tennis tournament in the world begins on Monday, June 25. The draw will be made on Friday at 11am CET (10am local time).
