World no.44 Tomas Machac captured the biggest win of his career on Friday at the Gonet Geneva Open, where he upset world no.1 Novak Djokovic 6-4, 0-6, 6-1 to reach his first ATP Tour final.

The Czech moved freely and struck the ball well against the top-seeded Serb.

Players had traded break once in the first set, before Machac converted another chance in the ninth game and closed it 6-4.

Novak looked fresher in the second set and moved well. He broke his rival three times to level the contest.

However, in the deciding third set, the momentum switched again. Djokovic suffered three breaks, in the third, fifth and seventh games.

Novak will head to Roland Garros where he faces Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the first round.
