The top seed broke four times from 10 opportunities and did not face a single break point in a 63-minute triumph.

Match statistics: aces (7-1), double faults (0-0), winners (13-6), unforced errors (6-15), total points won (61-31).

Novak will next play Jan-Lennard Struff (ATP #46) who outlasted Brazilian Thiago Monteiro 6-3, 6-4.

The 34-year-old Serbian star owns a perfect 5-0 H2H record against the big-hitting German.
