Novak Djokovic and Kevin Anderson missed on a great chance to beat doubles specialists Nikola Mektic and Alexander Peya and reach semi-finals at the Toronto Masters.

Mektic and Peya needed an hour and 34 minutes of action to clinch a 7-5, 7-5 win over the Serbian/South African pair.

The Croatian/Austrian duo broke four times from six opportunities, while Nole and Kevin converted two of their seven chances for break.

Match statistics: aces (5-3), double faults (1-6), total points won (62-70).

Novak heads to Cincinnati, where another ATP Masters 1000 event, the Western & Southern Open, begins next week (August 13-19). It is the only Masters Nole still hasn’t won.
