Novak falls to Arnaldi in Madrid opener
Novak failed to pass his first obstacle at the Mutua Madrid Open Masters 1000 event in the Spanish capital. Italian Matteo Arnaldi, ranked 44th in the world, caused an upset in the second round by defeating the fourth seed 6-3, 6-4.
Strong start for Novak in Miami
With a second-round victory at the Miami Masters, Novak ended a streak of three consecutive losses on the ATP Tour. The fourth-seeded Serbian star cruised past Rinky Hijikata, dispatching the Australian in straight sets - 6-0, 7-6 (1).
Novak stunned in Indian Wells opener
Novak’s Indian Wells campaign ended unexpectedly early, as he suffered a second-round defeat in his first match at the tournament. Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp, ranked 85th in the world, pulled off a major upset, defeating the five-time champion 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.
