The sixth seed missed a match point at 5-4 and the set went to a tie-break. The big-hitting American raced to a 3-0 lead and won it in convincing fashion 7-2.<\/p>\n<p>Djokovic stepped up in the fourth set and converted two more break points to clinch his 35th victory in 2018, his second win over Sandgren in as many career meetings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;I thought I played very well for the first two sets, two sets and a half, and then lost it mentally,&#8221;<\/strong> said Novak. <strong>&#8220;I&#8217;m not happy with the way I lost concentration and composure but I managed to regroup in the fourth.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Match statistics: aces (6-11), double faults (3-4), winners (30-44), unforced errors (30-51), total points won (132-110).<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/niz0yKlJZeg\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Novak will face 26th seed Richard Gasquet (H2H 12-1) for a place in the last 16 of the year\u2019s final Grand Slam. <\/strong>The Frenchman beat Laslo Djere (SRB) in straight sets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two-time former champion overcame second-round hurdle in New York, moving past American Tennys Sandgren 6-1, 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-2.
