Novak stormed to a 5-0 lead in the second set and sealed the win on his third match point two games later.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;In the important moments, I managed to get the right shots in play. Not 100 per cent pleased with my game, I missed a lot of shots from the back of the court,&#8221;<\/strong> Djokovic said. <strong>&#8220;But at the end of the day, it&#8217;s the first match, so it takes a bit of time to adjust.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Match statistics: aces (6-4), double faults (3-2), winners (24-15), unforced errors (25-24), total points won (73-58).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>* Rafael Nadal has pulled out of the Paris Masters with an abdominal injury, meaning Novak will return to the summit of men\u2019s professional tennis on Monday, November 5.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Novak will next play Bosnia and Herzegovina\u2019s Damir Dzumhur.<\/strong> It will be their first career encounter.<\/p>\n<p>The 52nd-ranked Sarajevo native upset no.14 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.<\/p>\n<p>In his 13th appearance at the Paris Masters, Djokovic is biding for a fifth crown in Bercy.
