Fritz broke back once, but the Serbian star made another break to close out the opening set.<\/p>\n<p>Dominant Djokovic continued his momentum into the second set, breaking his rival three more times to clinch his 15th match win in 2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;It was very challenging to play in these kind of conditions,&#8221;<\/strong> said Novak. <strong>&#8220;Taylor plays really quick and has a big serve and just flattens the ball. He doesn&#8217;t really have a clay-court game, but he has done well this tournament. Today we had five, six close games in the first set and I just managed to break his resistance mid-way in the first set. After that, things went on my side and I felt more comfortable.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Match statistics: aces (3-2), double faults (3-6), winners (12-12), unforced errors (12-28), total points won (64-43).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Novak will play 10th seed Daniil Medvedev for a semi-final spot.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Russian advanced to his first ATP Masters 1000 quarter-final by defeating no.6 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in three sets, 6-2, 1-6, 6-4.<\/p>\n<p>Friday encounter will be the fourth career meeting between Nole and Daniil.
