{"id":166592,"date":"2024-01-02T08:01:04","date_gmt":"2024-01-02T07:01:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novakdjokovic.com\/?p=166592"},"modified":"2024-01-02T11:26:18","modified_gmt":"2024-01-02T10:26:18","slug":"united-cup-srb-cze-1-1-tie-goes-to-a-deciding-mixed-doubles-match","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novakdjokovic.com\/en\/news\/tennis\/united-cup-srb-cze-1-1-tie-goes-to-a-deciding-mixed-doubles-match\/","title":{"rendered":"Serbia through to United Cup quarterfinals with Australia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Serbia found a way to reach the quarter-finals at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedcup.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United Cup<\/a> on Tuesday when they edged past Czech Republic 2-1.<\/p>\n<p>Marketa Vondrousova earned a close win in the opening match of the day, when she beat Olga Danilovic 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nole then outplayed Jiri Lehecka 6-1, 6-7, 6-1 to even the tie vs Czech Republic.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The World no.1 sent the Serbia-CZE tie to a decider, clinching the three set victory after two hours and 18 minutes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Novak took the opening set in convincing fashion, breaking his rival twice &#8211; in the fourth and sixth games, but Lehecka stormed back and claimed the second set 7-6.<\/p>\n<p>The Belgrade native quickly bounced back. The third set was a one-way traffic. Djokovic raced to a 5-0 lead, and two games later he sealed the triumph.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In the deciding mixed doubles match, Olga teamed up with ATP Next Gen Champion Hamad Medjedovic.
