He will face Aleksandar Vukic (AUS, ATP no.69) in the second round.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Novak\u2019s potential opponents in the later stages of the tournament are:<\/p>\n<p><strong>3rd round:<\/strong> Luca Nardi (ITA, LL)<br \/>\n<strong>4th round:<\/strong> Tommy Paul (USA, 17), Ugo Humbert (FRA, 26)<br \/>\n<strong>Quarter-finals:<\/strong> Hubert Hurkacz (POL, 8), Casper Ruud (NOR, 9)<br \/>\n<strong>Semi-finals:<\/strong> Daniil Medvedev (RUS, 4), Holger Rune (DEN, 7), Grigor Dimitrov (BUL, 13), Taylor Fritz (USA, 12)<br \/>\n<strong>Finals:<\/strong> Carlos Alcaraz (ESP, 2), Jannik Sinner (ITA, 3), Andrey Rublev (RUS, 5), Alexander Zverev (GER, 6), Stefanos Tsitsipas (GRE, 11)&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I&#8217;m really looking forward to coming back,&#8221;<\/em> Djokovic said on returning to the small, picturesque city in the Southern California desert. <em>&#8220;It has been five years, way too long to not be part of the Tennis Paradise tournament, one of the best tournaments in the world without a doubt.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Novak has been victorious in Indian Wells on five occasions (2008, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016).<\/p>\n<p>Reigning BNP Paribas Open champion is Carlos Alcaraz.<\/p>\n<p><em>Photo: ATP Staff<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the season, the BNP Paribas Open, takes place from March 6-17.
