Novak returned to The Boodles<\/a> tournament, the traditional Wimbledon<\/a> warm-up event at Stoke Park in Buckinghamshire, to finalise preparations for the defence of his Championships title.<\/p>\n

The world no.1 played at The Boodles last year and just over two weeks later he lifted his first Wimbledon trophy.<\/p>\n

Djokovic clinched his first win on grass this year beating British no.1 Andy Murray 6-4, 6-4 on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Novak made a confident start, running to the net and unsettling Murray enough that he lost the first game without scoring a single point. He consolidated the break and kept the advantage till the end of the first set to win it 6-4.<\/p>\n

Both players were enjoying entertaining the crowd, knocking a ball into the stands, hitting a ball between legs\u2026 The 25-year-old Serbian star made a break in the fifth game of the second set and held for 4-2. Andy fought back and leveled to 4-all, but the Belgrade native won two games in a row and sealed the set and match 6-4.<\/p>\n

“The purpose of these match is to have fun and not to feel too much pressure and to enjoy good practice before Wimbledon starts,”<\/strong> Novak said.<\/p>\n

The most prestigious tennis tournament in the world begins on Monday, June 25. The draw will be made on Friday at 11am CET (10am local time).<\/p>\n
