Novak Djokovic, the no.2 seed, who won his third straight China Open title on Sunday, opened his Shanghai Rolex Masters<\/a> campaign with\u00a0a\u00a06-3,\u00a0<\/strong>6-2 victory over Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in their first-time meeting.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nole hit five aces and converted three of his five break point chances to claim the second round win in just 54 minutes. He\u00a0is the ATP World Tour\u2019s match win leader for the year with 66 wins and a season-best 41 on hard courts.<\/p>\n

“Very pleased with my serving in Beijing and the first match today,”<\/strong> said Novak.<\/p>\n

“That’s something that I’ve been working on. Relying on the serve in today’s tennis is a big advantage. So I try to get as many free points as possible. Today that was the case. It helped me a lot to defeat my opponent.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Match statistics<\/span>: aces (5-1), double faults (0-3), winners (18-6), unforced errors (18-23), total points won (56-31).<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old Serbian will next play world no.29 Feliciano Lopez. The Spaniard beat no.16 seed Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany 6-3, 6-4.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Match is scheduled on Thursday about 16.00 local time (10.00 CET).<\/p>\n

Djokovic has a 4-0 H2H record against the Toledo native. They last met in the finals of the 2011 Serbia Open tournament, Nole won 7-6(4), 6-2.<\/p>\n
