World no.1 Novak Djokovic is among the nominees for the Laureus<\/a> World Sportsman of the Year Award.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After winning the prestigious award for achievements in 2011, the eight-time Grand Slam champion is once again among the world\u2019s greatest sports stars.<\/p>\n

Djokovic leads the men\u2019s nominations along with Cristiano Ronaldo (Football), Lewis Hamilton (Formula 1 driver), Rory McIlory (Golfer), Marc M\u00e1rquez (MotoGP Racer) and Renaud Lavillenie (Pole Vaulter) who broke Sergey Bubka\u2019s 21-year-old world record.<\/p>\n

The Laureus World Sports Awards<\/a> are given annually since 2000 to sportspeople who have been outstanding during the previous calendar year.<\/p>\n

Novak finished the 2014 season with a 61-8 W\/L record, including seven titles. The 27-year-old Serbian star won one major (Wimbledon), four ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments (Indian Wells, Miami, Rome, Paris), one ATP 500 event (China Open) and the season finale. He was also runner-up at Roland Garros.<\/p>\n

The 16th edition of the Awards Ceremony will take place at the world-famous Grand Theatre, Shanghai, on the evening of April 15. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The winners are selected by the members of the Laureus World Sports Academy, the living legends of sport honouring the greatest athletes of today.<\/p>\n
