Three-time former champion Novak Djokovic produced another solid performance on Saturday to beat world no.49 Jeremy Chardy 6-4, 6-4 and advance into his fourth Rogers Cup<\/a> final.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The top seed needed 80 minutes to seal his 10th win over the Frenchman in as many meetings. He broke once in each set and did not face a single break point during the match.<\/p>\n

“If you have a good head-to-head record against the player you’re facing, it gives you a little bit of a mental edge,”<\/strong> said Djokovic. “In crucial moments, that’s maybe what helped me hit the right shots at the right time.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Match statistics<\/u>: aces (4-2), double faults (2-3), winners (12-18), unforced errors (9-24), total points won (65-53).<\/p>\n

Novak will face Andy Murray (GBR, 2) on Sunday at 15:00 local time (21:00 CET) in attempt to win his 25th ATP Masters crown. The Brit defeated Kei Nishikori (JPN, 4) in straight sets 6-3, 6-0. Nole has won their last eight meetings (19-8 H2H record).

With victory over Chardy, Djokovic extended his winning streak at the Masters 1000 level to 30 matches. The 28-year-old Belgrade native is attempting to capture a record-tying fifth ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event of the year.<\/p>\n

Nole and Janko Tipsarevic lost their doubles match to Daniel Nestor (CAN) and Edouard Roger-Vasselin (FRA) 6-3, 1-6, 4-10. With the semi-final appearance in Montreal, Djokovic will climb around 300 places when the ATP doubles rankings are updated on Monday.<\/p>\n
