BNP Paribas Masters<\/a> champion Novak Djokovic continued his quest for a fifth Paris Masters title with a\u00a0 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory over Grigor Dimitrov on Thursday.<\/strong><\/p>\nThe third round match lasted two hours and 24 minutes. It was the seventh career meeting between the two, Novak now leads their H2H rivalry 6-1.<\/p>\n
It was Nole’s 17th consecutive victory in Bercy. He improved to a 61-7 record on the season.<\/p>\n
After Dimitrov had clinched\u00a0the opening set, Novak regrouped and took control in the remainder,\u00a0breaking his rival twice in the second set and once in the third.<\/p>\n
\u201cI’m very grateful to have such a crowd and perform in front of them. I think they appreciated the battle between Grigor and I today,\u201d<\/strong> said Djokovic. \u201cI think we both gave what we could. I think it was a really, really nice match to be a part of.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\nMatch statistics: aces (5-6), double faults (5-7), winners (17-32), unforced errors (29-55).<\/p>\n
Next up for the top seed is Marin Cilic, against whom he holds a perfect 14-0 H2H record.<\/strong><\/p>\nThe ninth seed from Croatia beat David Goffin (BEL, 8) in straight sets 6-3, 7-6.<\/p>\n
“He loves these kinds of very quick courts. He won Cincinnati in very similar, even faster conditions,”<\/strong> said Novak. “I know what I need to do, and hopefully I’ll be able to execute it well tomorrow.”<\/strong><\/p>\nThe quarter-final clash is scheduled on Friday.<\/p>\n
