He was runner-up in Rome, at the US Open and the ATP World Tour Finals in London.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At 16 events he played in 2016, Djokovic took his win-loss record to 65-9, <strong>winning 21 of 25 matches against top 10 players<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Nole clinched his season-opening title and his 60th trophy overall at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, beating Rafael Nadal in spectacular style, 6-1, 6-2. It was his first crown in Doha.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Xte6BLDLFk4?rel=0\" width=\"590\" height=\"332\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Belgrade native\u00a0re-established himself as the king of Melbourne when he claimed a record-equalling sixth Australian Open title (tied with Roy Emerson) in an astonishing final against Andy Murray (6-1, 7-5, 7-6).<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ys28qDiLLAQ?rel=0\" width=\"590\" height=\"332\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Novak captured a record fifth BNP Paribas Open title in emphatic style as he defeated Milos Raonic 6-2, 6-0 in the Indian Wells final in March. The victory saw him draw level with Rafael Nadal on 27 ATP Masters 1000 crowns.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/k3dge32voeE?rel=0\" width=\"590\" height=\"332\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Djokovic completed Indian Wells-Miami double for unprecedented fourth time with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Japan\u2019s Kei Nishikori in the Miami Open final. He became the new career ATP Masters 1000 titles leader (28) and all-time prize money leader on ATP World Tour and tied Andre Agassi\u2019s Miami tournament mark of six trophies.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OD9TiNekWMk?rel=0\" width=\"590\" height=\"332\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>With his second Mutua Madrid Open trophy (b. Andy Murray 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in the final), Novak won his 64th career title and added 29th Masters 1000 shield to the collection.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SLxsg9YhH2o?rel=0\" width=\"590\" height=\"332\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>On June 5, Nole captured his first Roland Garros crown with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Andy Murray in the French Open final. With the historic win, the Serbian star completed a career grand slam and cemented his place among the game\u2019s all-time greats. The Serb carved his name deeper into tennis\u2019s history books, becoming the third man to hold all four major crowns at the same time, joining Don Budge and Rod Laver.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tJ7MBFs31Bo?rel=0\" width=\"590\" height=\"332\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Eight weeks later, Novak clinched an unprecedented 30th ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Kei Nishikori in Toronto final.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rneNOJaF-tA?rel=0\" width=\"590\" height=\"332\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Novak suffered a 6-7 (4), 6-7 (2) defeat to Juan Martin del Potro in the Rio Olympics opener.
