Kohlschreiber stuns Djokovic in Paris!



World number 4 Novak Djokovic failed to reach round four at Roland Garros on Saturday, when no.29 seed Philipp Kohlschreiber defeated him in straight sets 4-6, 4-6, 4-6 in 2 hours and 21 minutes.

Novak grabbed an early break in the first set. He broke to love in the fourth game and then held for 4-1. From that moment Kohlschreiber played great, while Novak’s game wasn’t on the level we’re used to. The German broke twice to go up 5-4. Djokovic earned a break point and a chance to come back into the set, but Kohlschreiber held to take it 6-4.

The best Serbian tennis player was two breaks down in the second set. Kohlschreiber was serving for it at 5-2, but Nole managed to break back once. The German was more successful serving for the set for the second time and closed it 6-4.

There were no breaks in the third set until the ninth game when no.29 seed converted another break point and then served it out for 6-4 to reach the fourth round and equalise his best Grand Slam result.

Djokovic served 3 aces to Kohlschreiber’s 1.
He hit 27 winners to the German’s 24, and made 38 unforced errors, 16 more than his opponent.
Novak converted only 2 of his 6 break points, while Kohlschreiber capitalised on 5 of his 10 chances for break

Clay court season is over for Djokovic. He will next play at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle that begins on June 8th . It will be his first tournament on grass in 2009, the only one before Wimbledon, where he lost in the second round last year.
