Novak will not play for his fifth US Open title on Sunday.

In the semi-finals of the US Open, Novak Djokovic fell to Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the tournament’s second seed, in straight sets 4-6, 6-7 (4), 2-6.

The match lasted two hours and 23 minutes.

Alcaraz broke Novak’s serve in the very first game, which turned out to be key for winning the first set. Novak had a few chances to break back, but couldn’t take them, and Alcaraz went up 1-0 in sets.

The second set was full of excitement. Novak got his first break and led 3-0, but Alcaraz quickly bounced back to level the score. The set was decided in a dramatic tie-break, where Alcaraz kept his cool and went up 2-0 in sets.

In the third set, Novak looked noticeably tired. Alcaraz broke again in the fourth game to lead 3-1 and then closed it out 6-2.

Match statistics: aces (4-7), double faults (4-2), winners (15-31), unforced errors (28-30), total points won (81-98).

With this win, Alcaraz narrowed Novak’s lead in their H2H matches to 5-4.

It is still unknown which tournament is next for the Serbian star.
