After competing in Beijing, Novak will head to Shanghai, where the penultimate Masters 1000 event of the season will be held from October 7 to 18.
The organisers of the Rolex Shanghai Masters released the main-draw matchups on Monday morning.
A total of 96 players are in the draw, with the top 32 seeds receiving byes in the opening round.
Novak, a four-time Shanghai champion (2012, 2013, 2015 and 2018), is seeded No. 10 and will begin his campaign in the second round against the winner of the match between Hubert Hurkacz (POL) and James Duckworth (AUS).
