World no.1 arrived in Abu Dhabi where he will play at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, the exhibition bringing the world’s top players to the UAE.
The event which is being played at the Abu Dhabi International Tennis Complex at Zayed Sports City (December 27-29), features strong line-up (Novak, Andy Murray, David Ferrer, Tomas Berdych, Janko Tipsarevic, Nicolas Almagro).
Nole is no.1 seed and he received a BYE to the last four. He will play fourth-seeded David Ferrer on Friday at 15.00 local time (12.00 noon CET). The Spaniard beat Tomas Berdych (CZE,5) 6-2, 6-4.
Second semi-final will see Nicolas Almagro take on Janko Tipsarevic. World number eleven from Spain has been confirmed to join the the Mubadala World Tennis Championship field following the late withdrawal of Rafael Nadal due to a stomach virus.
Final match will take place on Saturday, December 29, at 17.00 local time (14.00 CET).
Djokovic won the tournament last year beating Gael Monfils (6-2, 4-6, 6-2), Roger Federer (6-2, 6-1) and David Ferrer (6-2, 6-1).
Right after Abu Dhabi, Novak will fly to Australia where he will team up with Ana Ivanovic to represent Serbia at the 2013 Hyundai Hopman Cup, a traditional warm-up competition leading into the Australian Open.
Novak will be making his fourth appearance at the international mixed team event, to be staged at the new Perth Arena from December 29, 2012 to January 5, 2013.
The 25-year-old Belgrade native will also celebrate the New Year’s Eve there.
Serbia’s powerful combination have been handed top seeding. They will compete in Group A with Italy (3), Germany (5) and Australia (8).
Novak’s team has prepared gifts for his fans for upcoming holidays: desktop backgrounds, wallpapers for mobile phones and a desktop calendar for January 2013.
