World no.1 Novak Djokovic will start his US Open Series campaign at the Rogers Cup presented by National Bank, an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament in Montreal, Canada (August 10-16). The official draw will take place at Fairmont Queen Elizabeth on Friday, August 7, at 17:00 local time (23:00 CET).
The 2007, 2011 and 2012 champion won 90 points last year. He lost to Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in R3, 2-6, 2-6.
A week later, another ATP Masters 1000 event, the Western & Southern Open, begins in Cincinnati (August 16-23).
Novak won 90 ATP points in 2014. He was stopped by Spaniard Tommy Robredo in R3, 6-7, 5-7. It is the only Masters 1000 tournament that Djokovic still hasn’t won.
The 28-year-old Belgrade native will have a week off before the last Grand Slam in 2015 – the US Open (August 31-September 13).
Last year, he finished semifinalist to Kei Nishikori of Japan, 4-6, 6-1, 6-7, 3-6.
It will be Novak’s 11th appearance in New York, where he lifted the trophy in 2011.
