Novak Djokovic gathered a star-studded crowd in New York last night for the exclusive premiere of his highly anticipated documentary, “Novak Djokovic: The Wolf in Winter,” held at the prestigious Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).

The gala screening was attended by numerous sports legends and distinguished guests, including Zlatan Ibrahimović, Cafu, Marco Materazzi, Roberto Carlos, Mike Tyson, and Bogdan Bogdanović. Support for his colleague was also shown by Novak’s long-time rival and friend, Juan Martín del Potro, while the renowned editor Anna Wintour stood out among the guests from the worlds of fashion and art.

Produced by Amazon Studios, the documentary offers a deep and intimate insight into what drives one of the greatest athletes of all time, revealing the complex personality of a man shaped by extraordinary life circumstances.

From the official synopsis:
“Born in war-torn Serbia, Novak Djokovic grew up amidst conflict and financial hardships, while his family sacrificed everything to support his tennis dream. When he broke onto the professional scene, he faced significant resistance from the public and the media, who often perceived him as an intruder disrupting the established rivalry between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Through exclusive behind-the-scenes access at major tournaments, a look into his grueling training regimen, and peaceful moments spent at home with his family, the film provides an unprecedented glimpse into Novak’s world.”

Alongside Novak, the film features interviews with his wife, Jelena Djokovic, as well as tennis legends Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Boris Becker, and Jim Courier, along with leading voices in tennis journalism, Mary Carillo and Patrick McEnroe.

This emotional and inspiring project is directed by Jason Hehir, widely known to the public as the director of the acclaimed documentary series about Michael Jordan, “The Last Dance”.

Reflecting on the New York premiere, Novak shared his thoughts on the project that encapsulates decades of hard work and sacrifice:

“Tennis has given me so much, but the biggest battles were never fought only on the court. This documentary is about the moments people didn’t see—the doubts, the sacrifices, and the continuous work to evolve and move past the story many think they already know well. The journey has been incredible, but it is far from over.”

The documentary film “Novak Djokovic: The Wolf in Winter” will be available globally starting August 20, exclusively on the Amazon Prime streaming platform.
