Djokovic cruises into Rome semifinals!



Third-seeded Novak Djokovic defeated world no.5 Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semifinals of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament in Rome. The match lasted 1 hour and 37 minutes.

Nole broke his opponent’s service already in the second game, but Del Potro broke back immediately. World no.3 put the pressure again and broke the Argentine for the second time to go 3-1 up. Both players held their services til the end of the set and Novak won it 6-3.

Djokovic faced two break points in the fourth game of the second set but held to equalize to 2-2. The Serb managed to break Del Potro’s service in the next game and it was enough for him to take it 6-4.

Novak fired 4 aces to Del Potro’s 2.
Djokovic hit 20 winners to Del Potro’s 8, and made 29 unforced errors, 2 less than his opponent.
The Serb capitalized on 3 of his 6 break points, while the Argentine used only 1 of his 3 chances for break.

Nole will play against Roger Federer(SUI, 2) for a place in the finals. Federer beat Mischa Zverev (GER, 76) in his quarterfinal match 7:6, 6:2.

Current H2H between Novak and Roger is 7:3 for the number two seed.
