Nole downs Seppi to reach quarterfinals in Madrid!



Third seeded Novak Djokovic reached the quarterfinals of the Madrid Masters tournament with a straight sets win over Italian Andreas Seppi 6-4, 6-4 in 1 hour and 36 minutes.

The 21-year-old Belgrade native started the match very well. He grabbed an early break in the second game, held for 3-0 winning 14 points in a row, and even had a break chance for 4-0 lead, but Seppi saved it.

The Italian broke back in the seventh game and held comfortably to equalise the score to 4-4. Nole faced scare in the ninth game but saved a break point and then managed to break his opponent’s service for the second time to take the set 6-4.

There were no breaks in the second set until the tenth game when Novak used his sixth break-match point to win it 6-4.

Djokovic will play against world no.54 Ivan Ljubicic in the quarterfinals of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event. The Croat defeated Frenchman Gilles Simon (8) in three sets 3-6 6-4 6-3.

Nole will also play in the doubles quarterfinals. Serbian pair Djokovic/Vemic beat no.8 seeds Melo and Sa from Brazil 6-2 7-6(9).
