Five-time Miami Open champion Novak Djokovic advanced to the third round with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over world no.87 Kyle Edmund (GBR) on Friday evening at the second ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tennis tournament in 2016.
The top seed opened title defence in comfortable fashion, converting four of 11 opportunities on Edmund’s serve in the one hour, 20-minute match to improve to a 37-5 record at the Crandon Park Tennis Center.

Djokovic is bidding for his fourth ATP World Tour title of the season. He has compiled a 23-1 match record, including trophies in Doha, Melbourne and Indian Wells.
Novak will take a 2-0 career lead into his clash with no.33 seed Joao Sousa of Portugal, who defeated Canada’s Vasek Pospisil 6-7, 7-6, 6-2.
