Nole overcomes Ljubicic test!



World no.2 Novak Djokovic came back from a set down to beat Croat Ivan Ljubicic 2-6, 6-4, 6-0 in 1 hour and 49 minutes to advance into the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour 500 tournament in Dubai.

Novak handed Ljubicic the first break of the match in the fifth game with two unforced errors. Former world no.3 broke Djokovic’s serve once again in the seventh game and then closed the set 6-2 in just 32 minutes.

The crucial moment of the match was in game seven in the second set when Novak saved two break points. That helped him regain his momentum and self-confidence and he exploded in the tenth game, earned two break/set points and used his first chance to take the set 6-4.

Ljubicic’s game fell apart in the third set. Novak made three breaks and closed the set and match 6-0!

Nole will face Marcos Baghdatis in the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships semi-finals on Friday. The Cypriot defeated German Michael Berrer 7-6(5), 6-1.

Djokovic has a 3-0 record against Baghdatis.
