Last year’s Wimbledon semi-finalist, no.2 seed Novak Djokovic, brushed aside his opponent Frenchman Jeremy Chardy with ease in his first competitive grass court match in 2011.

Novak dropped just 6 games in a 6-4, 6-1, 6-1 victory over the world no.54 in 80 minutes on the second day of the 125th Championships.

Nole now leads their H2H 6-0.

Though the best Serbian tennis player had break point opportunities in the fifth and seventh games of the opening set, he used his chance in the ninth game and then served out the set 6-4 in 34 minutes finishing with an ace. Novak’s winning percentage on 1st serve was 89, and on his second – 100%.

Djokovic started the second set in a great style. He broke Chardy twice, in the first and third games and held for 4-0. One more break in the seventh game and the scoreboard showed 6-1 after 25 minutes.

Nole continued his absolute domination in the third set. He made a double break and closed the set 6-1 in 21 minutes for a place in the second round.

Match statistics: aces (9-9), double faults (1-2), winners (25-22), unforced errors (6-21).

“It’s great to be back on the most famous Centre Court in the world,” said Nole. “It’s my first grass court match of the season and I’m extremely happy with how I played.”

“It was difficult for both of us because of the wind but I’m happy overall it was one of my most dominant matches on grass I think, particularly on my serve.”

This was Novak’s 27th match at the All England Club, his record is 21-6. The 24-year-old improved to an amazing 42-1 this year.

The world no.2 will next meet Kevin Anderson of South Africa who beat Ukranian Illya Marchenko in five sets.

Djokovic and Anderson have met three times, Nole leads 2-1.
