World no.1 and five-time former champion Novak Djokovic booked a place in the Rolex Paris Masters semi-finals on Friday, following a 6-4, 6-3 triumph over Taylor Fritz.

The match lasted one hour and 14 minutes.

Novak had twice a break advantage against the big-serving American in the opening set, but he needed the crucial third break to close it out.

Fritz broke first in the second set, but Djokovic responded with a double break to seal his 980th career win.

Match statistics: aces (8-5), double faults (3-4), winners (22-15), unforced errors (15-22), total points won (63-43).

Novak goes on to meet seventh seed Hubert Hurkacz (H2H 2-0) on Saturday.

The Pole beat Australian James Duckworth 6-2, 6-7, 7-5 to advance into the last four.
