Nole safely into third round of Wimbledon!



World no.3 Novak Djokovic advanced to the third round of Wimbledon on Wednesday after a 7-6(5), 6-1, 6-4 victory over world no.97 American Taylor Dent in 1 hour and 57 minutes.

There were no breaks in the first set. Dent failed to convert two break/set points in the tenth game and it went to a tie-breaker. The best Serbian tennis player made one mini-break more than his opponent and won it 7-5.

Djokovic was dominant in the second set . He made two breaks to take it convincingly 6-1.

One break of serve was enough for Nole to clinch the third set 6-4 and book himself a place in the third round.

Match statistics: aces (9-12), double faults (1-11), winners incl.service (47-56), unforced errors (6-46), total points won (111-83).

“I think it was very important for me to overcome that first set to win it,” said Djokovic after the match. “I think that was one of the turning points in the match. I managed to get the match under my control after that.”

Novak’s rival in the third round on Friday will be no.28 seed Albert Montanes. The Spaniard beat American Brendan Evans in five sets.

Djokovic leads their head-to-heads 3-0.
