Novak and Erlich successful in opener at Queen’s Club

World no.3 Novak Djokovic partnered Israel’s Jonathan Erlich to a 7-5, 6-3 victory over British team of Jamie Delgado and Jonathan Marray.

Djokovic and Erlich (#87 in doubles ranking, career high #5) needed only 69 minutes to secure the victory in their first match together in doubles competition to reach the second round of the AEGON Championships, an ATP World Tour 250 grass-court tennis tournament in London.

The British pair was the first to break for 3-1 lead, but the Serbian-Israeli combination took over the control, made a double break and won the first set 7-5.

Two more breaks in the second set allowed them to close it out quicker than the first.
They next face seventh-seeded Brazilian team of Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares.

Novak will play his second round match at the AEGON Championships on Wednesday, his rival will be Italian Paolo Lorenzi, world no.96.
