Novak battles past Serra to reach the Halle quarterfinals!



The best Serbian tennis player made one of the greatest comebacks in his career and clinched an important victory in the second round in Halle.

Novak was 5-7 2-5 0-40 down against world no.56 Florent Serra, and one step from elimination, but he saved five match points and made a great comeback to beat the Frenchman 5-7 7-5 6-1.

The match lasted 2 hours and 5 minutes. Serra used his third set point to break Novak’s service in the 12th game of the first set and won it 7-5.

The Frenchman was a break up in the second set. He was leading 5-2 and 40-0 on Djokovic’s service, but Nole managed to get out of the deep trouble. He won seven games in a row to take the set 7-5.

After regaining control world no.4 started playing really well and dropped only one game in the third set, breaking his opponent’s service twice for 6-1.

Novak faces Jurgen Melzer in the quarterfinals of the Gerry Weber Open. German Nicolas Kiefer retired after the Austrian player won the first set 6-1.
