Novak: Davydenko was too good!

The best Serbian tennis player of all-time will not contend for title at the Masters tournament in Chinese city of Shanghai. Russian Nikolay Davydenko beat him in the semifinals in three sets, 2-1.

Novak is aware he’s done a great job in the last two weeks-he won the tournament in Beijing and reached semifinals in Shanghai…He will improve his ranking to no.3 on Monday!

”I’m disappointed because I played a great match…Anyway, two weeks of great tennis are behind me. There was no problem in that tie-break, Davydenko just played much better. He was obviously too good for me today. I’m disappointed, because I think I played a great match, and I wanted to reach another final. On the other hand, I have to admit this is not bad either. I’ve had fantastic two weeks in China, I won one tournament and played semis here in Shanghai, so I think I can be satisfied with my performance”-said Novak.

Davydenko said he wasn’t sure if the player who played better won, and that Novak had every reason to be proud of himself and his results.

“The match lasted three hours and was decided on a tie-break, which tells enough how difficult it was to win. Who was better? I don’t know. He was better, but I won. He made many mistakes and also lost concentration, and I got the chance to advance into finals”-said Davydenko.
