Shanghai Rolex Masters draw ceremony has been held on Saturday. World no.1 headlines the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event, taking place at Qi Zhong Tennis Center from October 9-16.
Fifty six players are taking part. Eight seeds (1-8) got BYE in the first round.
Novak, who won the tournament on three occasions (2012, 2013, 2015), is a top seed. He’ll open quest for 31st Masters title in the second round against world no.43, Italian Fabio Fognini (7-0 H2H record).
Djokovic’s possible opponents in the later stages of the tournament are:
3rd round: Richard Gasquet (FRA, 14), Grigor Dimitrov (BUL)
Quarter-finals: Tomas Berdych (CZE, 7), Nick Kyrgios (AUS, 12)
Semi-finals: Rafael Nadal (ESP, 4), Marin Cilic (CRO, 8), Jo-Wilfried-Tsonga (FRA, 9)
Finals: Andy Murray (GBR, 2), Stan Wawrinka (SUI, 3), Milos Raonic (CAN, 5), Gael Monfils (FRA, 6)
Last year, Novak defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-2, 6-4 in the final.
