World no.1 Novak Djokovic advanced to his 11th Championships quarter-final on Monday.
The top seed and defending champion cruised through his fourth round match with a 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 victory over Ugo Humbert in one hour and 42 minutes, reaching the last eight of a major for the 45th time.
Novak wasted no time putting pressure on the Frenchman. He broke once in the first set and twice in the second and third sets to complete his 32nd win in 2019.
“I think as the match progressed, I played better and better. Very pleased with performance,” Djokovic said. “It’s exactly what I was looking for and what I needed. I don’t think about trying to conserve energy, I try to focus on what needs to be done to win the match. I was very pleased to execute the job in three sets.”
Match statistics: aces (3-6), double faults (1-2), winners (25-20), unforced errors (14-34), total points won (90-60).
Djokovic next takes on no.21 seed David Goffin (5-1 H2H advantage) in their first ever grass-court meeting. The Belgian toppled Fernando Verdasco in four sets.
