Nole spent only 53 minutes on the court in the first round in Paris.

Top seed Novak Djokovic kicked off his fifth Olympic Games with a rock-solid 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Matthew Ebden on Court Philippe-Chatrier on Saturday.

The Serbian star dominated the doubles specialist and advanced in just 53 minutes, passing the first obstacle in Paris and moving into the second round.

Novak capitalised on his six break points from nine opportunities. He created a match point with a volley winner and converted it with a backhand down the line winner, sealing the victory.

Match statistics: aces (4-1), double faults (0-4), winners (24-7), unforced errors (10-15), total points won (52-21).

In the second round of the Olympic tournament, Novak awaits Rafael Nadal (Spain), who won 2-1 against Marton Fucsovics (Hungary).

It will be the 60th clash between Nole and Rafa. The Serbian tennis player leads 30-29.
