Serbia found a way to reach the quarter-finals at the United Cup on Tuesday when they edged past Czech Republic 2-1.

Marketa Vondrousova earned a close win in the opening match of the day, when she beat Olga Danilovic 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.

Nole then outplayed Jiri Lehecka 6-1, 6-7, 6-1 to even the tie vs Czech Republic.

The World no.1 sent the Serbia-CZE tie to a decider, clinching the three set victory after two hours and 18 minutes.

Novak took the opening set in convincing fashion, breaking his rival twice – in the fourth and sixth games, but Lehecka stormed back and claimed the second set 7-6.

The Belgrade native quickly bounced back. The third set was a one-way traffic. Djokovic raced to a 5-0 lead, and two games later he sealed the triumph.

In the deciding mixed doubles match, Olga teamed up with ATP Next Gen Champion Hamad Medjedovic. The Serbian duo defeated Miriam Kolodziejova and Petr Nouza 4-6, 7-5, 10-8 to send their Team through to the United Cup quarterfinals.

Quarter-final clash against Australia is scheduled on Wednesday (10:00 CET):
